About

Deborah Conti likes exploring the boundaries of glass in a torch, as well as playing with fibers, metals and found materials. One can never know what will capture her imagination next. Her latest pieces explore the dynamics of torch work with transparent plate glass.

She came out of Ithaca, got her degrees in Lexington, and rambled through Champaign and Raleigh before a long stint in Des Moines. There, she taught lamp working at The Des Moines Art Center, Iowa State University, and was in The Visiting Artist Programs around the state. She also taught through her studio. Recently, her family relocated to Washington and she found a home at The Washington Glass School. There she has been adopted by three other multi-faceted glass artists, Tim Tate, Michael Janis and Erwin Timmers, along with their compadres, Evan Morgan and Marty King…who also always have something new happening…melting, painting, torching, sandblasting, neon, electroforming, welding.
